Dhaka is
the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. Today Dhaka has a long story of
evolution. It was founded during the 10 century. It enforced
as the Mughal capital of Bengal from 1608 to 1704. Before coming under British
rule in 1765 it was a trading center for British, French and Dutch. In 1905 it
was again named the capital of Bengal, and in 1956 it became the capital of
East Pakistan when British served was end. During the Bangladesh war of
independence in 1971, the city suffered a heavy damage. Many people was killed
on this time like 30 lakhs. In 1982 the spelling was changed from “Dacca” to
“Dhaka”.

Dhaka islocated in the geographic center of the century. It’s stands on the river
Burigonga. The area of Dhaka city is 276 square kilometers. It has a population
of over 16 million. This city is one of the world’s leading rice and
jute-growing regions. It’s industries include textiles (jute, moslin, cotton)
and food processing, specially rice milling. The Muslim influence is reflected
in the more than 700 nice mosques and historical buildings found throughout the
city. The University of Dhaka and museums are located here.There are many
important places here. Such as the Parliament House, Central Shohid Minar,
National Memorial, Baitul Mukarram Mosque etc. there are 4/5 star hotel are
also located in Dhaka.
